Every Japanese mustang I've played in stores sounds kind of out of tune and shrill when I play chords or diads. My 2003 comp reissue does the same thing, I checked the intonation and it seems fine. What's the deal?

I know in a tube amp that most of the overdrive sound comes from the poweramp, but what's more important for the responsiveness, the preamp or poweramp? If I want tube feel, but use a pedal for distortion, would I be well off with a tube preamp/solid state poweramp hybrid?

Lead free rosin core, 95% tin, 5% antimony. Is this kind good for guitar electronics? I've heard "the more tin the better", but 95% seems like a lot more than people usually use.

I've heard a lot of people say that dime-sized pots suck. What's the difference between these and standard sized pots?

I have a Japanese Mustang and it has my favorite clean tone of all time, but it's not that great distorted, especially when playing higher diads it has this shrill resonating sound too it. Which pickup would have a VERY similar clean tone, but could also handle distortion? I've got my eye on...

Anyone know the resonant peaks for Fender Mustang pickups?
