Hi,
I want to compare a Fender cobalt 'noiseless' with a Seymour Duncan STK4 - I managed to loan the Fender one from a pal - it has 3 wires - red, black and green, but but I do not know what to do with the green cable. The red + black measure 12.2 Ohm - the green cable measures nothing - I do...
Hi,
a year ago I bought a s/hand Seymour Duncan Strat pup on eBay. I now want to buy another for my 2nd guitar but the Seymour D box has since been thrown out and there is no number or code anywhere.
It has vintage looking poles - it is hum free - it is pretty glassy but is slightly louder...
Can anyone tell me how the SSL-3 sounds when tapped? Will I get a glassy quack vintage sound?
And how do you make a tap? Are there any easy instructions here?
Hi,
I have tried to replace my SSL3 with single coil humbuckers but I just cannot nail that beefy vintage tone and drive - only the SSL3 overdrives my 5150 so deliciously that I am often in a stupified state when I play - yet it is prone to hum badly - I hear Blackmore had the same problem with...
Hi,
I am still not sure whether I understand the principles of a guitar's wiring. I understand the electro-magnetic energy conversion which produces the sound on the amp - all that is clear. But I get lost understanding the basic concept of current passing thru the guitar. I still seem to be...
WoW!
man, I love my SSL-3 (s) !!!!!!!!!
having revolved a whole bunch of pups around 3 guitars I was left with a spare SSL-3 lying on the table, a Strat with an SSL-3 at bridge position and a big hole starring at me at it's neck position. So I dropped the spare SSL-3 into neck position and...
I have cleaned up my Start pickup circuitry and have shielded and commonly grounded everything to each other eg. bridge(strings)+Tone1+Tone2+5-way-switch+master volume pot. I put humpty back together again and played - very nice.
However my head tells me there is a slight drop in aggression -...
HI,
I have a strat with 2 x Di-Marzio SH3 Malmsteen pickups at neck & middle and my SSL-3 pup at the bridge - depending on the stage/location I get bad noise/hum with just the SSL-3 . I want to kill the noise and I have a few original Fender pickups laying in a drawer - I was wondering if there...
Hi guys,
I have aquired a cheapo Fender Strat as a backup for stage - the previous owner had removed the Jap. pups and added USA Fender ones in to it - I have removed the bridge pup and placed an SSL-3 in there - at first I noticed the 'between' setting with the neihbouring middle pup was ok...
I have a few old 'mexico' pups lying unused in a drawer - is it possible to take the windings from one of them and add them to my seymour STK pup to make it even louder? and if so, how?
I have 2 Strats and a mixture of pups from S.Duncan & Fender. Somehow I am not happy with the way the 3 pups act with each other. In both cases I have the more powerful Stack pup from Seymour at the bridge but the original pups from Fender are just as loud if not louder! I have a sneaky feeling...
(stratocaster) Should the middle pu be wired in reverse? I have Di-Marzio HS3 at neck and middle positions which have hum-cancelling and an SSL-3 at the bridge which does not. I have no issues with the way it is but I thought I read something here which made me re-think. Could this also cut out...
I have replaced my SSL-3 with a hot stack because of the humming associated with the SSL-3 - and now I have a new problem - the new Hot Stack (which has single magnet bar instead of staggered magnets) is not louder than my other 2 Di-Marzio pick-ups - and they are low output pickups. Yet...
Hi Everybody,
Scenario - I have a Strat with 2 x DimMarzio HS3 PUs at the neck and middle positions - a Stock fender at the bridge. A long time ago I removed the tone controls completely. I do not know if the volume pot is the original and it's label was soldered over long ago so I do not know...
