    Fender's mystery pickups

Whether you love him or hate him (and I go back and forth between the two), John Mayer's got some real chops and some real tone. It's kind of SRV-ish but not quite. Looking at his signature axe from Fender he's got pups called "big dippers". Fender doesn't sell them on their site and nobody...

    difference in the quarter pounders?

Can anyone notice any huge difference in tone between the quarter pound for jazz bass and the quarter pound for precision bass??

    Reggae rock tone

Anyone listen to Dispatch? That's the kind of tone I am looking for; the wah inclined reggae/ska type sound with a little distorted edge (you can hear some of their stuff by clicking here). Besides a wah pedal, what pups or other things do you hear/recommend for that kind of tone? Better yet...

    pot question for JB

So I know that the JB is preferred with a 250k tone pot...but does that include a 250k volume pot as well? Seems to me like it would sound too skinny. Help?

    Tele body wood

I recently got a mexican standard telecaster (2000's era) as a gift and I was just wondering what type of wood the body is. Musiciansfriend.com says it is poplar but Fender's site says the new ones in 2006 are alder so I'm not sure which one it is. Help plz?

    Jazz/Hot rails with 250k pot

So I know the JB is believed to be best used with 250k pots, but most other HB's are favored with 500k pots. In my new standard tele I am going to install a hot rails in the bridge and a SH-2Jazz in the neck(got the custom pickguard for it) but it just so happens my Standard Tele has 250k pots...

    The Best Tele Humbuckers

So to get a fat like humbucking sound from a Telecaster for harder rock/punk type music I've seen there are not too many offerings from Seymour Duncan or DiMarzio. Really it narrows down to the SD Hot Rails, SD Little '59, DiMarzio Tone Zone T, and DiMarzio Super Distortion T. Has anyone used...

    Heavy pups in hollow bodies

So I noticed recently Gibson gave Tom Delonge a new sig that is similar to an ES-335 in shape with the hollow body, but with a dirty fingers pickup. Has anyone tried a heavy pup like the Dirty Fingers or Invader in a hollow body or semi-hollow body? How is it tone-wise??

Pup setup for double fat strat

In a friend's Fender standard double HH MIM strat we're thinking about having an Invader in the bridge and Jazz model in the neck....what do you guys think?? He'll be playing hard rock, punk, and pop.

    Invader vs. JB

What would sound better for punk style playing....JB with 250k pot or Invader with 500k pot?

    Telecaster Deluxe Humbuckers

does anyone know a place or website that sells custom Deluxe Telecaster pickguards that have a pin hole spacing in the bridge slot to fit a regular humbucker? I looked around and I can only find the same typical ones that only fit the stock humbucker with the two holes on each side.

    Newbie Paintjob Help!!!

So recently I got a sweet deal on buying my friend's Epiphone G-400 for only 200! I say it's a damn deal because the thing is practically new and played a show with it only once and I already have new pickups waiting for it so I wasn't apprehensive that it was an Epiphone. The only catch....I...

Do fretboard woods really matter that much?

I know a lot of SD pickups say they work especially well with a certain kind of fretboard wood; rosewood being the most favored among the humbuckers. I'm a maple kind of guy, so I'm wondering if the difference really matters that much in the pickup's tone. Let me know!! I don't mind rosewoods...

Little '59 compatible with stock pickups??

Yo I just got a little '59 bridge pickup for my standard Tele and I don't really feel the need to change the neck pickup just yet so I was wondering if the '59 will be compatible with the stock fender pickup in the neck?? I hope I don't have to buy a neck pickup jus to make the '59 work.
