    Mesa Recto: 2ch vs 3ch

I have been looking into picking up a Recto recently, probably in the used market. Are there any differences in sound/reliability/etc between the 2 channel and three channel models? I favor the two channel Triple, since it's the one I have the most experience with, and I'd only be using one...

    Marshall vs Ceriatone

I've been looking into getting a 1959SLP, but Marshall seems to have a higher price tag than I remember/think they're worth. I stumbled across the Ceriatone site and wanted opinions on them.

    Marshall SLP/Major

(This is more of a Friday morning thought than anything I'm pursuing) I have looked over the schematics of both these amps and they seem to have the same layout, with different component values. Is it possible to change an SLP to Major specs? I'm thinking it's doable, swapping the components...

    Weird tuning issue

My strat is having an odd issue. I'll tune up, but my low E is off. Intonation is good, nut is good, fretting around the board is in tune, but the low E is sharp when I go for chords. Very noticeable, I have to "under tune" the string to sound in tune. Is this a common issue for strats in...

    Repairing copper tracing

I have a pedal with some copper trace damage. Can I use conductive copper paint to repair it? I could simply use some wire as a jumper, but where's the fun in that? :laugh2:

    Triple Rec fx loop mod?

I've been trying to track down a guide to mod the Triple Rec effects loop from parallel to series for a friend. The most info I have found is "it is like seriously moving a couple wires around" which doesn't help either of us at all :laugh2: Anyone have details to do the mod? Thanks.

And I thought four 4x12's were enough...

    On-Axis vs Off-Axis

I'm just getting into recording, and was wondering the advantages and pitfalls of on-axis and off-axis mic placements. I'll be using SM57's, FWIW.

    300K push-pull pot?

Is there such a thing? I want to pick one up for a later project. If not, could I solder a 200K resistor between the "third lug" and ground on a 500K pot to lower it to 300K? Thanks.

    Ground issue

I seem to be having a ground problem. If I touch the cable end coming out of my guitar, or put a bare foot onto my wah, it goes away. Everything checks out as far as solder connections. Any Ideas?

    Bassman Question

Random thought... can the 59RI Bassman's channels be "jumped" like Marshall plexis?

    Cool wah score

I've been doing some small pedal repairs/mods for a friend, and in return I got a Hendrix crybaby! Granted not my favorite wah for gained up sounds (actually hate it for that) but much nicer than my 105Q for them times you just want a good classic clean wah.

    Marshall JCM 900

Hello all! Haven't been around for a bit... Anyway, I have an opportunity to pick up a JCM 900 for practically nothing but I'm not well versed on it. It's a 1994 50 watt, dual reverb head. So far my favorite Marshall is the JCM 800 2210 split channel head, but can't find one in the same price...

    Double creme question

I know the whole situation with double creme. My question is, could I go through the Custom Shop asking for "non-specific double colored bobbins under un-soldered covers" to get them? Thanks!

    Anyone try the Soldano Avenger?

I tried the Soldano SLO and liked the lead channel, and the Avenger is supposed to be just the lead channel in a single channel amp. Just wondering what your experiences were. Thanks, William
