Looking for a SSL-4 in Cream

I've never seen a cream quarter pounder.

Pickup upgrade for Epiphone Les Paul (hard rock/metal)

I've not played a Katana 3, but with modeling amps I'm more concerned with the EQ in my pickups than I am output. My experience has not been that the JB sounds muffled or that the Custom is flat. When you characterize it as "characterless" I think I understand where you're coming from - it's a...

Pickup upgrade for Epiphone Les Paul (hard rock/metal)

Measure from the nut to the crown of the 12th fret and double it so you don't factor in any compensation of the saddles and angled TOM.

Looking for a hot rails plastic casing

That's the older style rails. I think they changed the rails design in the mid 2000s. There never was a "plastic casing" or housing on the pickup you have. The pickup you inherited has been modified - the plastic base plate has had material removed, which included removing the mounting holes for...

    That Experiment Didn't Last Long

There are many days that I wonder how it is that I don't have a guitar with a Custom in it right now. I really liked it in my LP Studio and my Epi SG. It was also surprisingly fun in my 335-style guitar. I eventually found something I liked better in each of those guitars, but I have...

Seymour Duncan Announces ‘59 Model Limited Edition 50th Anniversary Custom Shop Set!

These look so cool. I do not need more pickups... my problem is that I find a set of pickups that I love, eventually swap them to try another set, end up loving both sets, and get tempted to buy or assemble a new guitar to put the the extra set in. Buying a $375 set of pickups from the custom...

Pickup upgrade for Epiphone Les Paul (hard rock/metal)

What kind of amp are you playing through? If your amp has enough gain on tap to cover the heavier styles without needing that extra oomph from the pickups and you want a versatile pickup that can cover a lot of ground, I'd consider something like the 59 Custom Hybrid. It has a little more hair...

What guitar are you playing today?

I felt ridiculous the one time I played an ML.

    Marty Friedman appreciation thread

One of the greatest metal solos ever. That said, listening to it stripped of the context of the other instruments, even as repetitive as the backing riff is, it just doesn't hit the same for me as an isolated track.

Let's play a " What If " game with Guitar Models

Easy... strat, because Fender has already made one in pretty much every form you would want.

    Telecaster Bridge Saddle Position Question

Got a pic of the body? Since it's pre-routed, the mounting screw and string-thru locations will tell all. The location & quantity of the mounting screws and string-thru holes, as shown in the image Chistopher posted, can differ. I wouldn't put any stock on the location of the saddles relative...

    NAD - Friedman JJ Jr.

This is my first tube amp purchase in 20 years, and so far so good. The amp is plugged into my homemade 2x12 with a pair of Celestion Greenbacks. I spent the first two hours playing around with the settings through various guitars while resisting the urge to play "We Die Young" and "Them Bones"...

    HSH w/S1 to do Series/Parallel and auto-split

This should get you there. Duncan colors for the humbuckers. S1 is a master series/parallel in positions 1, 3, and 5 (switch "up" is series). Positions 2 and 4 split to the screw coils and add the middle single, and the S1 does nothing. Without knowing the wind direction or polarity of the...

    HSH w/S1 to do Series/Parallel and auto-split

Can you clarify what you want in position 3? I can sort of read that both ways (either wanting split humbuckers in position 3 vs. full humbuckers affected by S1 in position 3). What pickups do you have? Are you sure the middle pickup will be in phase with the humbucker screw coils?
