I've been reading your astute posts about SD Strat-style humbuckers. DM'ing you to avoid bumping an old thread:
To replace my Red Devil neck pup, can you suggest a slightly brighter neck S-shaped humbucker (or high-output single-coil)?
I love the other 2 Red Devils, and the neck pup definitely gets this Strat into Gibson territory. But compared to good full-size neck humbuckers on my other guitars (which are mostly Alniico 2), it's actually missing some highs.
Wondering about the Lil' Screamin' Demon, Little 59, Cool Rails, Quarter Pound (Tap), Custom Stack Plus, Hot Strat, or even Pearly Gates Strat.
I'm looking for a warm jazz tone, minimizing Strat silkiness. The Red Devil does this, but just kills too many transients. Cool Rails might be brighter than I want. I love the (full-size) Screamin' Demon as a neck pup on my Telecaster, but from your posts (and other people's), I'm aware that the Strat-shaped pickup named after it might sound nothing like it.
Thanks for any suggestions!
