    DIY Acoustic Panels?

Have you made these, and if so, what was your experience? We bought a new home, and my new office could use a few to reduce reflections.

    Alligator clips and humbuckers

This is probably best filed under C for Crazy, but I gotta ask: Does using alligator clips to "audition" pickups change the tone vs soldering them in? I've been doing this for years--using a pair of brass alligator clips to temporarily wire in humbuckers to try them out in a guitar before...

Looking for a specific 500k pot

Could anyone point me toward a decent 500k no-load pot with a detent when you're at the end of the sweep? I have a no-load on one of my guitars that I like, but it'd be nice to have it click when it's all the way open. Maybe a better question--is this actually even a thing??

FM3: Finally found a modeler that works for me

Not a deep or detailed post, but just wanted to say I'm really digging my Fractal FM3. Isn't it great to find a piece of gear that you click with? Edit: Crap, does this belong in the pedals forum? It might.

    Thoughts/experiences with current Variax models?

Basically what the title says. I just realized that many Variax use the Yamaha Pacifica as a base, and I've been wanting a SSS Pacifica. The modeling stuff would be a bonus. What do ya'll think of these guitars?

How close are the 59B and the PATB-3?

The 59s are some of my favorite all-rounder pickups, but I recently discovered that a PATB-1n I had lying around works really well in one of my guitars. Now trying to match a bridge. The PATB-1B is a little too much in this guitar, but the 59B single conductor I tried was really quite good. I...

WTTF Trembucker 59B, Custom, or WLH

I'm looking for one of the above, preferably in black and decent condition. I've got quite a few Duncan and Dimarzio bridge buckers to offer as a 1:1 trade, along with some noiseless singles, or a Tonerider A4 set that's practically new. Rather than list it all here, let me know what you're...

    NGD: Ibanez S570AH

This was an impulse buy, and I'm going to have to move my Player's Strat to make room. But it was worth it. Here's the full-frontal Sweetwater boudoir shot.

    Gorgomyte

I just discovered it, and it did wonders for my rosewood fretboards and frets. I'm sitting here right now, admiring the shine. Too bad it's hard to source right now (and not cheap). Anyone else use this stuff?

Local GC wall models all set up super high. Why??

Just a short rant I have to get off my chest. Please bear with me. I just got back from my local GC, where I spent some quality time gawking at the Wall of Endless Guitars. I would have loved to have tried out a couple Music Men and a Kramer or two, but every single guitar in reach was set up...

    Your #1 Ibanez Guitar

Js1600. Mahogany, fixed bridge. Not the best pic.

Okay. Current run Charvels. Tell me what you know about them.

I've always been an Ibanez guy, but I'm beginning to branch out in my middle age. I don't think it's that my taste have changed, so much as solidified, and I'm not sure Ibanez is offering much that hits the nail on the head for me any more. To wit: -Strat-profile necks with a flatter (12-16")...

    WTTF/WTB: PATB-1n

In good condition with plenty of wire. I have far too many Duncan and Dimarzios in my drawer to list here (mostly humbuckers and singles). But if there's something you're looking for, drop me a line and I'll let you know if I have anything that matches the bill.

    Boss SD-1 Bypass Artifacts

I keep coming back to the SD-1. Stupid simple, it has the sound I want, and for chips, they can be had any time, anywhere. Unfortunately, the slight buzz you sometimes get when bypassed is incredibly annoying. Kind of one of those "once you've heard it, you can't unhear it" things. There...

Made the jump to Helix: Impressed but Overwhelmed

TL;DR: I picked up a Helix LT for home studio and practice, and it's a brilliant piece of gear. It's also been a lot to process. I'm curious to hear about other people's journeys with more advanced all-in-one modelers. For the last few years, I've been using a THR10 plus software (S-Gear...
