Hey guys. Looking for some help identifying a set of pickups.
I bought this fantastic old 1957 Les Paul Junior...Its been routed for a pair of humbuckers. The guys at the shop that sold it...seemed to think that these were really old Duncans that were wound by Seymour.
I am not too sure...
I'm looking to pick up one of the older style Gibson Melody Makers. The ones they made from 2003 to 2006.....I believe they called them Les Paul Melody Makers. They had 1 P-90 pickup....tuneomatic bridge & stop tailpiece... "faded" finish with rough open grain...came in yellow, cherry, or...
I hate to sell this...but I can't keep buying guitars without selling any. I'm really a strathead Charvel guy...so I guess I never bonded with the pointy neck profile...
Anyway...Here is my 2005 black Charvel San Dimas pointy...when it was brand new...I sent it to Mike Learn for the Green hot...
Ok...If I take a JB Trembucker & a Custom Custom Trembucker & switch the magnets.......the Custom Custom becomes a Custom 5...and the JB becomes.....What???
Anyone try this???
Other than the obvious......don't do it....it wasn't meant for the neck position...it will sound like hell....thoughts??
I wouldn't have thought of trying this...but I think I remember some talk on the board before about some being pleased with the result.
I'm going to try this in one of my...
How long should this take?
To be more specific....if I were to order a Custom 5 Trembucker....in a particular color....oh say I wanted it in double creme..... with a cover on it of course....and I ordered this from a Duncan dealer (I would have to since this really wouldn't be a custom order...
I'm talking about on a pickup like a Seth Lover that has vintage style 2 conductor wiring.
Could I swap in a whole new set of 4 conductor lead wires?
Can this be done? Is it a very difficult swap?
Can you swap magnets between a Duncan Trembucker & a standard spaced Duncan humbucker?
I'm thinking that the magnets would be different sizes & thus can't be swapped...........but does anyone know for sure?
Does changing the magnet in a Duncan Distortion to an Alnico 5 basically give you a Duncan JB? (I've heard that before).
I've got a DD & I'm not crazy about the tone......thinking of trying this.
Any ideas?
I have a pair of these & don't know what model they are. Older Seymour Duncan single coils with bar magnet & dark red cover. Label on the back of both reads "2N-J" Any idea anyone??
This is probably an age -old question that's been answered many times over. Generally, When installing a hot rails in the bridge position of a Fender Stratocaster, do you keep the 250k pots or do you change to 500k? I'm thinking its best to keep 250k all around?
To further complicate...
I'm thinking about buying a guitar that has a full size JB in the bridge & classic stack singles in the neck & middle, wired to a 5 way blade switch with just a volume control. (The Jake E. Lee set up)
I'm used to 2 humbucker guitars with a master volume for each pickup & a 3 way toggle. I...
