Is installing amplitube 3 and asio driver and using guitar via microphone jack alright to get some ok sounds for home practise?

Bought the cobalt strings they are brighter then nickel wounds but my neck pickups sounds darker with cobalts then with the nickels :P What are your experiencess ???

Hi i own a LP made of an alder body, mapple neck and a rosewood board. I have duncan alnico 2 proes in that guitar and it does not sound bright at all. I want to putt on some cobalt strings but i am afraid that it will sound to bright becouse of the tone woods. Any thoughts? :D
