Of the magnets I have tried in one (A2/A4/A5/A8) I like the A4 the best. I suspect I like A4 mags more than most though - seems like they're not overly popular for bridge pickups. I never found it had an upper mid "spike", at least my two 90s JBs, but to my ear A4 seems to spread out the mid...

You´ll find one easily on amazon, like the link Guitardoc posted. "3.5mm allen key" ...also any European hardware shop (outside of the UK) that will send to the US, as metric is the standard over here.

Just so as you know I have this mod earmarked for one of my guitars. I have plenty of other work to do on it first... but I will eventually get to it.

I'm curious, about a few aspects of Jazzmaster pickups. Are they good for both clean and crunchy sounds or are they better suited to just one? Also is there anything more in common with P-90s soundwise (or construction wise for that matter) or do they just look fairly similar?

I've never felt the need to replace non-locking tuners on a hard tail unless the quality was poor...in which case I'd be inclined to replace them with non-locking tuners. As a matter of preference though I do prefer the combination of locking tumers with a vibrato/trem to hard tails.

Are they the ones with the hex adjustment screws? If so I had that problem too but I just got a load of different height ones (shorter than the supplied ones) and once I had the guitar set-up, I replaced any that stuck out with shorter screws one by one, so it didn't go too far out of whack...

I found cubase very confusing as a beginner. Audacity is easy to something recorded, but it's pretty basic. Although I don't have much experience with it, Reaper seems a better option as it should allow you to learn and continue on the same platform... Waveform sounds like it has potential too.

As it´s a hardtail are you planning on seeing if you can enlarge the route to get the pickup any closer?

I'd recommend getting a full-size humbucker for the bridge. A single sized pup will be a decent approximation...but for my money, not close enough. If you really want that fat, put a humbucker in the bridge...as for which one I'll leave that to others, although I don't think the JB mentioned...

That's a really cool looking pedal. I'm sure it would be something I'd have loads of fun playing around with too.
