Is there anything about a single coil sized humbucker that is lacking and makes you wish there was a full size humbucker in there? or are sc sized ones just too different to compare?

I am getting new pickups and pots, and am thinking i should try to install them myself, i have studied the diagrams and looked at the inside of the guitar enough to know where to solder. I have never had any actual experience with a soldering iron. I suppose i could try soldering some scraps...

would a jazz in the neck be a good match for a hotrails in the bridge in terms of output? I want to be able to have a useable sound when both pickups are on.

This may seem like a dumb question, but how much do guitar lessons really help? I've been playing for two or three years now, and I feel like I'm not improving much. Many of my friends who have taken lessons quit after a year or so, and just read tabs now.

whats a good practice/recording amp that costs less than 300 bucks? Right now I only have a 15 watt practice amp, and i want something a little louder. I dont need anything too loud, since i only play in either my house or my friends house and i cant have anything that's live volume.
