Full Shred Pole Piece & Magnet Swap

I agree with the notion that a magnet swap is probably not going to fully transform a Full Shred from something you hate into something you love. My experience with magnet swaps is that it always sounds like x pickup, just with a different magnet. Meaning just a notch in a certan different...

    Factory pickup heights

I'm not sure how much I trust Gibson measurements. I don't know if "trust" is the right word, but I feel like their measurements are pretty off compared to what I like. I feel like their stock action measurements, for example, are way too high for my liking. Especially since they're plek'd, it's...

Hades Gates vs Pearly Gates Custom Shop

Not anymore. I had one. It was great. Mine was wound by MJ. But there's that "master crafstman" field for others to fill.

Hades Gates vs Pearly Gates Custom Shop

Not all CS pickups are wound by MJ, AFAIK. There's more people that work there.

    HSH Guitars

I used to have an HSH RG570. I liked the 5-way super switch. In the in-between positions it had Strat-like tones. Those were fun. That being said, I barely used them, LOL. And the middle pickup kinda got in the way of my picking, I felt. I had to lower it a lot, and the tone of the in between...

Hades Gates vs Pearly Gates Custom Shop

I wonder this too. I know people often post they have a CS version of a pickup. Like, is it a slight tweak on an off-the-shelf design to still warrant calling it the same name, or is it just an off-the-shelf design, just handmade? I'm also not sure if the CS uses special materials like nicer...

Best 5150 in a box pedal?

Oh, I've considered the MXR pedal, but I don't think that one's an actual preamp. I've read some people who tried running it this way straight into the poweramp, and most of them mention the pedal is too dark and muffled this way even with the treble cranked.

JB vs ’59 vs Custom Which One Do You Keep Going Back To

Yeah, I suppose that's in context of what I like in the neck too. Any brighter, and I don't think I'd get along with it as I tend to like smoother, rounder neck pickups. But like you said, we all have different tastes. :)

JB vs ’59 vs Custom Which One Do You Keep Going Back To

I think the 59 in the neck sounds gorgeous clean. Nice, open, sparkly without being too thin. I think it's a bit problematic distorted. I've recently come to learn it's actually much better than I remember it being before. But I still feel it has a tendency to be either kinda bloated in the low...

NGD - Epi IBG '59 LP part 2

I really liked how the finish felt and looked on mine. How are you liking that? It did start to gloss up a tad during the time I had it, though. Particularly on the neck. I also used to have an LPC with the new Kalamazoo headstock, and I liked that one a lot as well except for the fact that the...

NGD - Epi IBG '59 LP part 2

Congrats on the new guitar! What bridge did they add there? I used to have one of those! The neck was a smidge thicker and a bit more D-shaped than the Gibson 50's on my Tribute. Maybe a tad wider towards the last few frets. Not night and day, and by no means full-on D-shaped, but I remember...

    Is all of this true?

No, they're from Music Lily. I believe It's Artec who makes those. I have a couple of Music Lily Artec neck pickups, and they aren't amazing, but they aren't half bad either...

    Is all of this true?

Seems like a description for a JB/Jazz-inspired set with hex poles. I think I've seen those on Amazon?

Power Tubes for Mesa DC-3 Amp....?

I'm the other way around. I've actually never had a JJ in a set of power tubes not fail on me, LOL. OTOH, I've never had a JJ preamp tube fail on me. And while they're not my favorite tonally, they have some redeeming qualities like being tight, smooth, focused, gainy, etc. and especially quiet...

    Speaking of Zephyrs...

Supposedly, silver and copper are better conductors. But gold is more oxidation resistant. So... maybe, but worth it?
