Why does seymour duncan not ship pickups to countries outside the USA?

Well, maybe it's not so bad that they don't ship internationally. I did order a pickup off DiMarzio back when they had the Black Friday sale, and I ended up having to pay like 1.5x the price of the pickup (without discount) beween shipping and custom fees and whatnot.

    Air Zone vs Custom Custom

I haven't tried a Custom Custom, so I'm not saying anyone is wrong, but I find it interesting that A2 transforms it into a mid-forward pickup. I tried A5, standard ceramic, and double-thick ceramic, and it was all varying degrees of scooped. Then again, I don't find it hard to believe that it...

    DPerley gates plus Real?

The Pearly Gates Plus is actually a hotter wind from the standard Pearly Gates, and it has an Alnico 5 magnet rather than 2. I know a few Fender models have that pickup. I think I remember the old Road Worn Strat I had came with one of those. I've never had a regular Pearly Gates to compare...

New Blues Junior v4 Limited Edition

I've read the standard Eminence speaker doesn't do it any favors either. I bet the version with the Greenback sounds great especially once you get some breakup going, though!

New Blues Junior v4 Limited Edition

I think they do sell upgrade cabs at Mojotone that fill the BJ's chassis. And yeah, I agree. I have a friend who played his Blues Junior through his Orange 4x12 at band practice, and it was glorious.

Like the tone, not the feel

I used to have the Highwood saddles on my old Road Worn. They were really nice, and they sounded great. They are very well made. They fit together snug (unlike the stock Fender bent steel saddles), and the adjustment screws feel more secure... and of course, don't poke you. They're great if you...

Seymour Duncan Announces ‘59 Model Limited Edition 50th Anniversary Custom Shop Set!

I wish they sold these separately so that I could put together an anniversary JB/59 set.

    NGD (a little late)

A quick Google search says those guitars came with the Virtual PAF. That would explain it not looking like a PAF Pro. It looks great, BTW! Gorgeous! Congrats!

So are ceramic magnet pickups more or less compressed than Alnico?

Yeah, that's another thing. I get it that people like expressive dynamics. But I feel sometimes people tend to romanticize that, when a hint of compression like from a squishy Alnico magnet is not always a bad thing.

So are ceramic magnet pickups more or less compressed than Alnico?

Depends on what you mean by "output". In the case of a Duncan Distortion vs. a, say, '59, then yeah, the DD is probably more compressed. But my point was more along the lines of a '59 with a ceramic vs. a '59 with A2. If I had to take a guess, I'd probably say the higher output ceramic '59...

So are ceramic magnet pickups more or less compressed than Alnico?

I don't agree. Amps compress more with pickups with more output more often than not, but those are amps, not pickups or magnets. Hard to separate both, but in an ideal world, if an amp has enough headroom to handle anything clean, louder does not necessarily have to mean more compressed...

    Are high output pickups outdated?

Oh, I love them, but they're kinda tricky to dial in. But I suppose there's an argument there than hot pickups + some amps is a desirable combination.

    Are high output pickups outdated?

Oh, Rectos love high output pickups. Especially focused-sounding ones. The more you raise the gain knob on a Recto on either Modern or Vintage, the flabbier and fatter it gets. So I feel it's best to keep the gain as low as possible and just pimp slap the hell out of the input with a hot pickup...
