can this be done with a standard 3 post pot? Pickup only has 3 wires

Love the Hamer but way too middy focused for me. Replaced the Seth Lover bridge with a T top. A little better but not much. I also have a Gibson Wildwood 336 that sounds perfect to me. It's on the bright side but I prefer that for cutting through the mix in anything over a 3 piece band...
