    Pickup for a weird guitar

So I just bought this crazy Minarik Inferno guitar. Seems at least decent quality, not high end but not a cheapie either....it has a JB in the bridge and a Jazz in the neck. OK with the Jazz, but I know that I won't want the JB as its too hot for my tastes. This guitar is chambered to some...

    Pickup suggestion

So I'm looking for a specific type of humbucking bridge pickup, if one exists - Full and smooth but dynamic as well. Something medium to medium high output that will tame the high end when using with high gain, but also provide some sensitivity to pick attack instead of compressing...Generally...

    ESP B-104 bass replacement pickups

I have an older ESP B-104 bass which has the stock ESP pickups, they are so so at best. There are many different soap bar sizes and replacements - which pickups would work in this bass guitar? Bartolini, seymour, etc.. Thanks

    Pickup rabbit hole

OK, so my journey is getting more anal by the day, not my fault, if there was only one guitar pickup type in the entire world then I wouldn't have this problem :) Charvel natural series, roasted mahogany body, roasted maple neck. Had a C5 in the bridge...swapped it out for various...

Custom C5 - from the custom shop

So after all kinds of swapping, magnets, etc, I've come back to the original C5 as its the sound I want for the Charvel natural series guitar. It was the original pickup in the guitar so I think they got it right... But....I can't get over the output being so hot. The bass is also a bit much. So...

    UOA5 magnet in a 59N?

I swapped out the A5 in a Custom 5 with an unoriented alnico 5 - seems to smooth things out a bit, add a touch of midrange and the bass is tamer. So far so good, but need a few more hours on it to be sure... The other pickup is a 59N - I have another UOA5 that I'm thinking should go in...

    Seymour Duncans overall bright?

I've tried a LOT of seymours....and it overall it seems they are on the brighter side. The tone chart shows 7-9 on the treble for most of them, save for a few high powered monsters which I'm not interested in. Do folks find other brands less bright overall? I have a charvel natural series...

Charvel natural series pickup bridge pickup swap

This guitar has a roasted mahogany body with a roasted maple neck, currently has a C5 and 59N. It has a dense, mid heavy sound so the scooped mid bridge pickup is almost mandatory (tried mid heavy pickups, just too much...) I like the C5 sound, with its scooped mids and a bit more open sound...

    fixing stripped screw holes

I bought a TB14 off of ebay, and the screw holes were widened, and screws provided but they don't take. Holes are stripped. F'ng pissed off right now. Anyways, I can get a couple of nuts but need to know the size for your standard pickup screws.... Thanks

Custom 5 with different A5 magnets

So after trying a bunch of pickups in my charvel natural series custom, I'm going back to the C5, as it turns out this guitar goes better with the scooped mids thing.... Only problem I have with the C5 is the fact its a bit hot for my tastes...but I do like that scooped sound. Will an UOA5...

    mid scoop humbucker choices....

I have a Charvel custom shop natural series, had a Custom 5 in it which I liked, but wanted to try something different. Went to a Jackson J90C, not enough dynamics, and now a JB with an alnico, which is cool but I realized why they put the custom 5 in this guitar - the roasted mahogany body...

    Jackson J-90C!

Just picked up one of these and installed it in a Charvel natural series custom guitar....wow....I feel like I am transported back to 1985 with hair extensions and spandex pants. Yeah its the 80s sound but it has that great combination of being hot and aggressive but still "nice" sounding...

pickup for a charvel natural series

I've got the charvel custom natural series, with the roasted mahogany body and roasted maple neck, locking trem. I have a custom 5 in it, and while it sounds good its missing that mid range/high end cut that I'm looking for to do the 80s shred thing. I'm sure the JB will be recommended but its...

    Custom 5 too hot

I've got the custom 5 in a charvel NAtural series custom guitar...while I like it, it's hotter than I would like. The 59 neck is in the guitar too, so seems like the 59 bridge would be the equivalent and be close to the same sound as the custom 5, only not as hot...true? Any others to consider...

    400K pots?

So I wired in a couple of 750K resistors to the pots in my explorer (500K pots) to bring it down to 300k. Wow, THAT is the sound of those classic riffs we all know. The Burstbuckers sounds rather pedestrian with the 500K pots IMO, but taking them down to 300K makes them bite and respond...
