Recommend to me a clear, clean, low output neck 'bucker

Have you seen that Jimmy Page demo from the movie It Might Get Loud where he plays clean on the guitar's neck pickup and switches to the bridge for dirt? That's what I'm looking for - a neck pickup that stays clear and clean when rolling down the guitar volume knob. I've never been able to get...

Xotic's new SL Drive is a fantastic Plexi-in-a-box

Since I can't seem to find any guys my age to jam with, I've sold off my higher-powered amps in favor of getting something more manageable for playing at home. While I've used attenuators, PPIMV's, Power Scaling, etc., I just wanted something in the 5 watt realm for not alot of money. Marshall...

Out with the Budda, in with the Marshall Vintage Modern

Since having the pleasure of playing through a Metro Bluesbreaker for a few months last year I've wanted to pick up something along those lines again but with a tighter, less pronounced low end. I never really knew about the VM until stumbling upon a quote by the designer saying that it's...

FS: 8 ohm Weber Legacy G12H30 spec speaker

Changing things up and no longer need this. Fantastic 12" speaker in aexc condition, used only a couple of months in an 18 watt amp. 8 ohms, 30 watts, 50 oz. magnet. $90 shipped, Paypalled.

I picked up one of those overpriced 1 watt Marshalls - the JCM 800 one

I guess it's all relative. Since I'm only playing in the house these days, having my Budda and the other higher powered amps I've owned is like having a sports car and only being able to drive in the city, never really getting to open it up. I hate the modelers I've tried and want good tone...

Man, is it GREAT to have a Seth Lover in a guitar again!

Finally upgraded the bridge pickup in my 50's Tribute Les Paul with a Seth Lover and am instantly reminded how much I loooove this pickup. It's been a couple of years since I last had one and it's just a pleasure to hear it through my amp. I'm pleasantly surprised at how well it matches up...

Guys - Lil Night Train is $149 + $50 rebate

I just ordered one. $149 is BEFORE rebate. Free shipping. Not expected to ship for a week, but I can wait with this kind of deal. I was doing research for a low watt amp for home and stumbled across this sale...

I picked up a 50's Tribute LP with humbuckers Gold Top

I've lusted for a Gold Top LP for a few years mainly after seeing a John Fogerty concert on TV where he went through a nice stable of guitars but the Gold really caught my eye. Now that Gibson is making these affordable for us working stiffs I grabbed one. I'm real happy with this guitar...

Ah, it stinks to work on a Strat's electronics and realize you forgot to do something

So I slacken the strings, remove the pickguard, remove a pickup, install a different pickup, lay pickguard back down and tune it up to make sure it works, install the 11 screws - then realize I forgot to do 50's wiring or a treble bleed mod. Man, I hate that.

I just installed a Tusq XL nut on my Strat - highly recommended!

I picked up a nice MIM HSS Strat at Christmas and the nut had a fine crack in it as well as some of the open strings seemed to somewhat muted, not ringing out clearly. Local tech wants $50 to install a bone nut so i figured I buy a pre-slotted Graph Tech for around $11 shipped from ebay and...

Not sure what this DiMarzio is in my Strat

I bought this H/S/S/ MIM Strat the Monday after Christmas and knew it was a DiMarzio but the owner didn't know which one (he bought it from original owner). I knew the thing was much hotter than the '59's in my SG. Figured I'd check it out when I did a string change. My curiosity got the best...

Another first-time magnet swap success story ('59b content)

I got a '59 covered set as part of a trade deal a few months back and found the bridge to be too thin/trebly and too scooped in my SG. On the advice of blueman335 I put in a UOA5 and it's perfect! Thickened/rounded out the highs and gave it some mids which I love. My test riff is the opening...

My best deal on an amp ever - $799 for a Stiletto Ace combo

I owned one a few years ago and sold it after my son quit playing drums and I wasn't sure if i was going to continue with this developing hobby. Here we are a few years later and I'm finding this to be the amp I've missed most. I need more amp for jamming with some buddies. Came across what I...

Would a 2x10 cab be a good way to reduce the low end in a bassy amp?

Short of having my amp modded for less bass, I'm wondering if a 2x10 cab would be a good alternative.

What's a good 12" speaker with a tight but not so prominent low end?

My amp has a ton of bass. I've even removed the middle panel on my cab's 3 piece back and am running the bass all the way down but there's still too much. Is there a speaker that has a more subdued low end but is still tight? It's a 7 watt EL34 head into a 1x12 cab.
