I never actually did any routing on my guitars. They all came with a Floyd, or without, but I never converted one to use a Floyd.
You would need to build a template for the routing and make sure you have all the parts and measurements down to a pat. There's so many guitars with Floyds at all price ranges though that I wouldn't really bother with it, unless it's THE guitar for you and there's no other way. Do remember though that the Floyd will change the tone of the guitar.
