Although this isn't my guitar, the inside looks like this: I aim to split the humbuckers so can I expect hum when single coils are in operation? If yes, should I paint all the cavities with sheilding paint? Should I stick copper sheet to the back of the pickguard also?

I've Duncan Designed H102 B and N pickups in my Squier Jaguar. If I want to split those humbuckers to single coils, do I have a choice which side of the humbucker is utilised?
