I was thinking I should make a new baffle for my vox vt-20+, to rid of the weak sounding stock 8" speaker and fit a 12" speaker in there... First I assumed a guitar speaker would be right but it's a modeling amp and has aux inputs for iPod and such so then I was thinking a full range speaker...

It's my understanding that most vintage tube amps have passive eq's (only cut, not boost their respective frequency range)... So isn't setting the knobs at noon basicly just cutting away much of the signal? Shouldn't the "baseline" be all set at max then cut a bit of one or two if needed? Is...

first off im a fairly new guitar player (about 5 years) ive only owned 3 amps... a fender frontman, a pignose, and a vox valvetronix... ive played plexis, jcms, mesas, and peaveys... i like marshall and peaveys best for distortion.. and mostly use either the plexi, jcm800, or diezel models...
