I measured all my pots and used a sharpie to write their actual values. They vary quite a bit. I wouldnt be surprised if you by 5x 250K alpha or chinese mini-pots you would get one close to 300K.

A JB with a single 500K volume knob is going to be very bright. Switch it down to a 250K will be about right. BTW, I really like the fretboard. Nice piece of wood for an inexpensive guitar.

I never thought about it before, but the strings only touch at the nut and the bridge. The neck joint is the farthest away from those points. It probably doesn't matter that much.

I found the wiring diagram. If the plugs to the pickups are the same, getting three voices from two push/pull pots should be easy. Might require some slight modifications to the push pull terminal wiring. But there IS a way to do it. I'm intrigued. High gain metal, JB, and single coil.

How do they handle voice switching? I have a emg 57/66tw guitar. The vol and tone are both push/pull so I can independently select one of the two voices. If I just unplugged and swapped the pickups with the MortalCoil, what would happen?
