i'm putting together a warmoth strat style guitar hardtail guitar with vintage string spacing, should i get a trembucker or humbucker for it?

my brother has an Epiphone Les Paul Custom, with the stock pups, which he'd like to replace. I was wondering, what pup combination would be best for his guitar for rock/hard rock, and soloing? He's looking for a nice rounded tone. any input would be greatly appeciated.

what schematic should i use when i wire my JB-hotrails-coolrails, 2 tone, 1 volume, and a 5 way switch? what would the difference in sound be like using 500k pots over 250k pots? what type of capacitor would go with each? any and all help would be great...Thanks
