Beside the fact that the 12AT7 have a lower voltage gain than a 12AX7, is there a significant tone difference? Let's say that both are from the same brand, and let's say that it's for a tube preamp which have only 1 tube. Anyone tried it?

I have been doing some research lately to find which magnet would have an EQ as flat as possible. From what I understand AlNiCo-4 and AlNiCo-8 seems to be the ones. Does it seem accurate? Could someone point me the right one? Am I wrong?

I have been looking for these pickups for a H-S-S configuration for few weeks now, can't find any, anywhere... is someone aware of the situation?
