I don't know what sounds better but keep in mind that you can only put it in front if it has a high impedance input, assuming a passive pickup bass.

Yes, to test with Crocodile clips you have to acquire Crocodile clips.

What's the tone control capacitor value? Did you try disconnecting the pickup from the harness and testing it with crocodile clips?

Among the Strats I liked sound-wise it is always (to the best of my memory) 6-point. One trick with 6-point is to tighten it down with the 2 outer screws mainly and leave the 4 inner ones a bit more loose.

Yes, I own that specific product and it doesn't have any flaws that I noticed. The exchangeable lenses are very nice. As is the case, I keep all lenses in the case at all times to prevent dust buildup. Of course it is a Lithium Ion battery, so eventually it might peter out.
