Does the oil in your fingers/hands alter tone?

You know, once your start putting finger prints all over the guitar? I remember one time I had been eating some fried chicken so my hands were extra greasy and it took some of the high end off after I touched the upper horn a few times. I've also heard several people comment on guitars coming...

Classical guitars, as fickle as any woman

A few things I've learned as the seasons change. Spruce tops are fickle as hell! The sound changes on them so rappidly due to humidity and temp factors its amazing. Just the other day I was playing and I rarely heat my place unless it's just really really cold but keep the humidity levels...

    Tuning hardware issue

The Facts - Sperzel locking tuners which can only take about a maximum 58 guage string through the hole in the tuning head The Issue - I need for it to handle about a 70 guage string on the low side What are my options to remedy this issue?

Nylon strings are a bummer to change

They stretch for eternity it seems, but putting a set of new nylons on is like listening to a grand piano for the first time.

FS: Cordoba KOA Limited Edition (CE)

So I'm letting my Cordoba go. I just bought this a few months back. It's a 2007 model with the best top I've seen on any of these. I have all the original paperwork and harshell case. The guitar is basically like new. Great classical with built in tuner and B-Band pickup.Asking $675 shipped...

Cornford amps aren't making my life any easier

Especially since an MKII has been at the top of my amp list for a while now. I think I've loved about every tone I've ever heard come out of a Cornford. It's about time to just pull the trigger. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PQ6ZjXr21hI

I have a power tube thats not glowing

Anything to worry about? I've seen preamp filaments not light up and they're fine but never a power tube. Everything seems fine though.

    27" scale length

Is so ridiculously stable and intonates so well in standard tuning it might just make you sick. ... just passing along the info.

1.687 and 1.650 nut width can you feel the difference?

I'm a huge stickler for nut width as I can never play a true 1 5/8" (1.625) but some manufacturers have that in between an 11/16 and 5/8 nut width (1.650). I've always been a 1 11/16" player. Can anyone honestly tell the difference between a 1.687 and 1.650? Doesn't seem like much at all but...

    FS: Digitech 2112

I'm cleaning out some old gear that I don't use much anymore. So up for grabs is my Digitech 2112 with the gold front. I don't know if you'd find one in better condition. There's one scratch on the side of the casing but that's about it. The knobs, scroll wheel, display are all about perfect and...

    Speaking of split tones...

... can I just say that IMO the Tom Anderson H1 has the best split tone eva! Sounds just rediculously deep, lush, and bell like in the neck. I'm sure the H1- would be just as good. I know the H3 and H2 typically get the hype in the Anderson line but don't forget the neck buckers!

Classical fingerstyle helps your picking technique?

I'm not going to call this fact but both my guitar teacher and I have found this to be the case. There just seems to be something in using your fingers individually that carries over into picking. I can't really explain it. I've been doing a lot more in the way of fingerstyle and it's really...

It's that time... time to show the new guitar

Not really new, it's been in my avatar for a while. I've had it for a couple months but I've been hording it all to myself! The reason I'm mainly showing this is because of all the baritone 7 string talk as of late. Jim Soloway is IMO the best when it comes to baritone scales. Soloway guitars...

    Godin Multiac series

What's everyones take on these guitars? I've been extremely interested in the nylon series because it's not so traditionally classical in terms of specs and sound. It has a little more modern edge to it while still retaining the nylon quality. Thoughts?
