Hello, I purchased a cheap Tele kit. Having a long automotive background I painted the body Harley Davidson Aqua Pearl Lacquer. The same color as my motorcycle. The neck was maple with a maple fret board. I did a little research & wanted to try a tung oil finish. I did a coat or 2 rubbing it out in between coats. I let it sit about a week or so, maybe 10 days and then mixed about 1/2 tung oil & 1/2 Minwax polyurethane as a final coat. I believe it came out great but everything I'm reading now states that the contrary should have occurred. I can say that the Tung Oil was 100%. The question here, & there is always a question, am I lucky, stoned or just can't tell the difference between good & bad. My daughter has a vintage Gibson classical guitar that needs to be refinished & I was given the opportunity mostly because of the price ($0.00) but also because of this Tele neck. I'm just a little scared so any & all advice would definitely be appreciated.
