  • That would have been annoying Geoff. I've seen it up close where management don't cut it and also when management are there and the Artist/s aren't.

That made me think of the men at Work story. Their original manager Russel Depler was essentially a uni mate of collins. He became manager when the band was formed but with their success and subsequent success internationally he was quickly out of his depth. Nathan brenner came in there doing all their overseas management. The drummer and bass player [ John and Jerry ] were peeved that right from the beginning he didn't do much as far as they were concerned, and by the time they got to touring overseas he was drawing more in royalties and such, than they. This is where and why they tried to implement new management and got sacked.
That pretty much killed the band too. Colin saw himself as the driving force of that band and he was wrong. There's another way to kill a band.
Hi Geoff, Can I ask who the management for The Truth was?
I didn't want to clutter up the post links thread with this question. Warwick.
Hey man! what bands did you play in with 2 marshall stacks in the 80s? I might have heard you play as a melbourne teenager!
I had a look at your itinerary.GEEz you're all over the country and back and forth.
    Life out of a suitcase.
    :) Thanks again.

I always hated that people claimed Socrates was just a construct created by Plato to serve as a devil's advocate. I much prefer to think he was a real man who lived, said, and did those things (minus the underage boys).
Hey just dropping by to say you and the experiment did a mean as hell Deep Purple cover! I was looking on Youtube for some Machine Head era live footage and stumbled upon your vids and thought "Hey isn't that the guy on SDUGF?". Can't avoid recognizing the Strat either haha. Nice tracks on MySpace as well!

I think I will drop you a line via iChat this weekend, Geoff. I expect it'll do me some good. Your conversation is always appreciated. :)
Thanks, Geoff. To be honest, you're probably the guy with whom I most want to talk about it. Sometimes I feel like I'm whining just to whine, which is why I didn't ask you (or anyone else) for a little guidance.

Something about all this feels like there's just one missing piece that's keeping me from getting to where I want to be—one bit of wisdom, inspiration, or some such thing. I don't even know quite how to articulate it.
    Geoff,

Are you still using the RS delay? I don't think I saw it the last time I saw your board. I'm kinda delay shopping and am considering either the RS or one of the new Maxons.

    Hi Geoff (part 2)

I was sitting on one side of the room, which may have been a mistake, as i felt that the midrange drivers in the PA were too small and somehow didn't cover a certain part of the frequency range (lower mids perhaps), but i should have stood in the centre as well to compare, but at the time my tummy was finding sitting to be more comfortable than standing. It seemed like that lower mid part of the vocal was somewhat missing and thus maybe a certain ammount of 'presence' and body to the vocal....but....i haven't heard the singer so of course i don't know how his voice sounds on the way into the mic. And of course from the old days, i'm more used to 12 and 15" speakers handling the mids. He's a good singer though...is he any relation to Peter Cupples?

So i'll have to get along to another gig when i'm not being attacked by viral nasties and catch the whole set, and come and say 'Hi' too. I'll look forward to it, cheers, neiL.
    Hi Geoff (part 1)

I did get to your gig on Wenesday night, just ..... I had a stomach virus of some sort a couple of weeks back and began getting some twinges of the same thing, which seemed to be getting worse. So i saw about the first 45 minutes or so but had to leave as i was feeling....errr....let's just say i knew i was going to need to be back at home near the 'little room'.

Hearing that material was kinda strange, took me back to when i was getting started and bands i played in and other bands would be playing some of those songs. It had been a l o n g time since i'd heard some of those tunes. Lots of memories, from simpler and more innocent times (for me anyway). I thought there was something a little 'old school' about the venue itself and it and the music seemed to go well together somehow.
The band have at long last managed to get some tunes down in the studio.

Not exactly as huge and dynamic as I had hoped, but for limited studio time and money, at least we now have some tuneage to help get more gigs in the right venues.
I used the Heil PR30 for main guitar tracking - it worked like a charm!

These are the 4 ballads from our set -.... tunes yet to be mixed are much heavier and faster paced.
If you are into APC, Tool etc., give us a listen and tell me what you think.
    Cheers
