    Fender amp matching.

I came across the following comments by a pickup maker that I thought some of you guys might find interesting. " Really though, if you listen to old Fender amps, like a Tweed Deluxe for example, when you plug in a Tele or a Strat and crank it up, it will sound fat and really detailed at the...

    Interesting new SD pup.

For those that haven't been following the development of the SDUFG pup. ( P90/Single coil ) I thought you might be interested to read the initial structure that the pup has taken after the initial development work from SD and crew. Quote from Evan Skopp:........ "A Custom shop tapped single...

Heaven Unearthed (A higher place than Heaven)

I have dwelt in a state of heavenly bliss for quite a while. The reason for my paradise like state is a 1998 model Gibson ES-335 equipped with a Gibson 57 classic neck and 57 classic plus bridge. I use the neck pup a heck of a lot. I also have an Epiphone 2004 model Dot (with all the usual...

    Zhangliqun, paging Zhangliqun !

Zhang there was a thread a few days ago about making a mini humbucker in a full size humbucker casing. One incredibly astute poster suggested it may be possible to persuade you. If some of us were to send you an old humbucker could you weave your magic on the internals and make a mini H out of...

CUt AN A5 in HALF and JOIN IT to an A2 !!!!!!!

This is what I did initially, using an SD Jazz neck in a Gibson 1998 ES 335. The results were spectacular ! I cut an A5 in half and butted it to an A2 which I had also cut in half so that the A5 mag was at the bass end ( E A D strings ) and the A2 was at the top end ( G B topE ). ......Tight...

Until we have a Soundclip Data base of pickups its all just a lot of talk.

Until we forum members decide to get serious and do ourselves and all of mankind a great service by establishing a sound clip data base of pups and all their modifications then I'm afraid we may be just going round and round in circles. How long before the next post asking : I'm confused by all...

    A5 vs A2 ... and the conclusion is ?

After some experimentation with different pups on an ES 335, I have found the following : An A5 is to a transistor amp what an A2 is to a tube amp. The sound and tonal properties of the above magnets behave almost indentically to the property differences between solid state and tube. :reporter:

BEFORE YOU BUY A NEW PICKUP CONSIDER THIS " Things Are Seldom What They Seem ! I don't get it, you can't decide which pup ?

So here goes, Let's say you can't decide between 2 similar pickups . Maybe a Seth Lover N and a 59N. These pups are both vintage sounding however there are tonal differences namely : The Seth has a more pronounced midrange with a little less top end and bass where as the 59 has a slightly...
