I've been wondering whether it's possible to dull the finish of nickel covered pups as the hardware on my SG has a faded nickel look, it'd be nice to get the pups to match.

I put a JB+Jazz set in my SG and the Jazz was really prone to cover squeals, I can damp it by resting my finger on the front. I recently replaced it and the new one feeds back in exactly the same manner so I'm wondering if this is just normal for a covered Jazz pup, the JB is comparatively stable.
