I've noticed that the rails on the pickups are black, but I've seen some on google that have silver rails, are they just painted or are they black through and through? If they're painted how difficult is it to get them to be silver?

In a month or two I will be building a new Warmoth Tele. Maple neck and mahogany body. The bridge pickup will be the STK-T2b and the neck will have an SM-3 in it. I'm looking for opinions as far as 3-, 4-, or 5-way switches and I would like to find a use for the Fender S1 switch just because I...
