  • - more totally stupid questions include did he flip the univox p90 pickups over so they were more lefty friendly...it's just crazy how many super rare lefty guitars he had - an I serial MIJ lefty...try to find that anywhere...so many E serials, no I ones - even K is rarer than E serials - the life of that telecaster is a whole other tangent too - did they just get a replacement neck and take the blue latex paint off the old body or is it really a totally new guitar - were the brass saddles stock customs from fender or replacements from stew mac or whatever - I can go on forever but hey it's just annoying right ;p Thanks Brian, your guide is great and thanks to EB too. ps - this guy is pretty obsessed about details too: http://sasayuri-net.jp/users/maruatime/10_guitar/10_Fender_Japan.html
    Hey,
Yeah I was crazy about the floyd bridge thing, it was a blurry photos and clear ones from the emp show stock bridge as you said and even stock neck with mij serial. The LP is such a mystery to me so if you can ask Earnie that'd be great...especially confirming if it was a set neck or bolt on and if it had a serial number or no serial/pre-serial. I did see a black lefty 1976 one with bolt on neck and stock coil tap switches - the one at pk's music in australia confirms the coil tap switch option. Other annoying questions include did he just cut the tips of the mustang and jag-stang selectors off with a utility blade so you see that black center of the switch, which is the hollow core of the switch, now flush with the pickguard - did he drill the mustang and jag-stang trem piece so that the string ball ends would sit flush inside after he flipped it over in that locking mod he did on them
Last, it's crazy the vandalism strat was mahogany. I can't figure out what the hell it is, it's so rare to find an I serial lefty. It has a floyd rose type bridge in the emp photos right? (is that aftermarket or original?) I think the model is like st72-55L but that body is basswood or sen - he's sure it wasn't a fernandez revival strat with the mij fender neck added right? some fernandez were mahogany body and if the bridge isn't original... http://www.music-trade.co.jp/f_80020965carte.html ? Last annoying one, did the univox custom come with the ibanez gibraltar bridge or did EB add it and if he did, how did he do it? Nope, I thought of another (sorry but I gotta) - was the small clone a mini chorus with the clear led that turned red when engaged or was it the full chorus with the clear led? I saw a photo of a busted one that was a mini but was that even Kurt's? Thanks to you both - the Ibanez LP is driving me nuts I'd love to see a photo(s) of it.
    Hi Brian,
I was just reading a recent thread where you were saying you had open dialog with Earnie and I have a few questions that are driving me nuts (and have been for a long time). Does EB have a photo of the Ibanez Pre-lawsuit les paul? I have a 73-74 set neck pre-serial one and wondered how it compared (minus the coil tap switches - seemed to be a factory option actually...?) - a modified version is on sale in Australia right now. Other question is did he drill the holes on the mustang trem piece larger for the string ball ends when he flipped it over? Mine ball ends would stick out like the comp mustang ones did but the mij stangs don't stick out so he drilled them right? Erm, also he just cut the mustang switches off with an exacto knife or something right - you're seeing the hollow core inside the switch in photos?
What would you say the condition of the pole pieces and the bobbin tops is? Is it 4 conductor? Did you have a prices shipped to baltimore 21212 in mind? Thanks in advance
Hey man how's it going? I was the one asking about eurotubes and I noticed that you're from Toledo, as am I, wondering if we know each other. I'm Rob from the Bridges.
I sent you a PM back last night about your recording message. You can have it if you want it for $90 shipped to your door. Paypal me: lofibrian AT hotmail DOT com.
