Actually...nope, it's not a Habanero. The guy who makes Zhangubckers...sent me a bridge pup. (it's akin to a slightly hotter '57 Classic plus...A2 magnet with 9.1k ohms resistance.)

I think what I'm gonna do is just match it with a Gibson BB pro I have lyin' around. It's going into my pawnshop guitar because...well...I don't have anywhere I can put it right now.

(I think the guy gave it to me over skepticism...I sent him a check in the mail...hahahaha)

So you're playin' Laneys? I've heard a lot of good things about those amps. I have a Marshall TSL 60 I gotta send in.....and I may have to get into something in the 30-40 watt range. Is Laney worth checking out? (On the soldering side...you know...I'm wondering if a lot of amp manufacturers are having fits because of the environmental issues over resin core solder which is the only kind that seems to really last..)

I hear ya. (One of the mods is a big reason for the vacation)...but pfft...enough of that.

Thanks, PB....I'm sort of taking a voluntary sabbatical from MLP over the whole Clown Fiasco. People are great there, but I think a few folks need to sort of take a break from me on MLP...and vice versa.

I'd definitely get a 250K or two in there, to keep the treble under control. This has a lot to do with how bright a bridge tone you want, and how much distortion you use (more distortion means more treble needed to prevent mud). Two 250K's have much more impact than one. I use two 250K's on my C5's, and I put them in warmer woods (mahogany) than a Strat. If I only have three pots, I'll make a dedicated bridge & volume for the bridge, and the neck with a volume only. With a two pot guitar, I'll make each one a volume pot (one per PU), and attach a hidden 250K tone pot to the bridge, inside the control cavity (I can't adjust it, but the 250K value warms the tone a little). A .022 cap is fine regardless of the pots.

The other way to deal with excess treble, is a warmer magnet, like an A4 or A8. I haven't tried these in a C5 yet, but will soon. I use a lot of A4's and A8's in other PU's, especially Gibsons. If you use an A2, you'll have a CC.
