  • Since we're talking books (in another thread), have you read The Doors of Perception? I just started cracking it and it's hella interesting.

I've also started reading The Teachings of Don Juan, by Carlos Castaneda.

Oh BTW, don't worry I'm not taking hallucinogenic drugs or anything. It's pure coincidence that both books I'm reading deal heavily with that subject.

    Take care man.

BTW, why wouldn't you be caught dead in a metal show? I know tastes are like...well you know.

Haha you thought something slightly vulgar didn't you? I was going to say tastes are like opinions. Just saying that it's never bad to appreciate other kinds of music outside your comfort zone.
I couldn't really comment on their tone in my ex bandmates LP as he had a rubbish amp and some really cheap ass multi FX processor, so wouldn't be fair to base an opinion on them. Sounds snobby I know, but don't mean it to come across like that!
I've tried A2Ps in LP style guitars, and heard them in the Slash Epi LPs an ex bandmate had, and they did seem like decent enough pickups :-)
    Your strats sounds cool :)

My only experience with those pickups you mentioned is as neck pickups in LP style guitars, glad you like it though :)
    Thanks mate!

It's an E serial Jap strat that originally had a 6 point vintage and (I assume) SSS pickup set. When I bought it it had a HSS setup so I routed the neck pocket for a neck bucker and slapped the BKP VHIIs in it. Makes for a very versatile guitar :-)

Hey! Stage Anxiety. I have a lot of experience with it. First time gigging, You have to first rehearse, rehearse, rehearse and know your material by heart. You need to be able to literally play it your sleep. The first time out, you need to know exactly how the song begins and ends and everything in the middle. Be careful with the tempos - the tendency is to get nervous and play to fast and then the songs won't have a deep groove. To establish that deep groove, take a few seconds before each tune to collect yourself and visualize the song in your head - when you can hear the song clearly in your head at the right tempo and with the right feel, count it off and give it all you've got. Remember that music is supposed to be fun and the audience WANTS you to do well and wants to see YOU having a good time. Because then THEY will have a good time. And really, having a good time is what it's about for most folks. Good luck! Lew
Hey bro, sorry for the misunderstanding on the SG thread. Like you said, text is not well suited to conveying emotion, positive or negative. :beerchug:
Oh I don't drink much really. I have a strict 2 to 3 beers per night out rule. You'll NEVER see me drunk and unconscious. I hate that. The way I see it, three beers is almost the price of a ticket of a regular local band. And there's tons of great local bands. So I'd much rather drink water all the time and go to more shows anyways. I just keep some stuff around the house for when the meal just calls for it or for the ocassional drink. Ironically I don't have wine!

About the Grolsch, they're beers that have this red rubber gasket of sorts that can be used as a home made straplock. The cool thing is that since they're rubber and not some piece of metal for some reason they seem to be way more useful. Only downside is that you have to screw them in, like the DiMarzio variety, and some cases don't fit a guitar with the strap on the buttons. They work like a charm though!
Don't need an excuse...just a fat wallet haha!

I'm drinking Grolsch a lot lately...have about 18 pairs of straplocks! Have some Johnny Black Label around somewhere.....and Carlsberg and Stella Artois...some Absolut and Russian Standard...No wine though...gotta get some though!

It's nice to live alone! Not because of the drinking though of course. That would be pretty dumb.
Hey man....forgot to tell ya this....

I think I'm going to kill the book club. Not a lot of people interested it seems...

We'll just have to recommend books to each other and leave it at that haha!

Of course! Do not tell anybody but I secretly call them Poss-yums! :D
My bridge is a stock American Standard Strat bridge of that era. I've never seen the need to change it. That and the tuning keys are the only things left stock on my guitar (Except the body & neck of course).
My Pearly Gates sounds really good split, very "Strat" like. And my Alnico II Pro sounds better in parallel than split.
Zebras would have looked OK, but double blacks with black knobs really works for your guitar. If mine had a sunburst like yours, I would have either done exactly what you did or put some nickel covers.
