The Purple Charvel Tele RULES.
I played a few Charvels- a few of the Style 1's, Style 2's and the SoCals. They were all set up nicely, but by the time they got to the stores, they could all use a little tweaking for optimal playing. On my Tele, the Floyd just had to be lowered a hair to play like butter. They can't set the action this low when it's sent to stores since it's borderline buzzing, but you can set the action much lower than the factory sets it at and still have buzz free ultra low action. All it really needed was the Floyd lowered a hair for my personal preference.
I did install a big block and swapped a german made Floyd since I had one. IMO, the stock Floyd is just as good as the german Floyd. Maybe the collar for the trem arm could be switched, but it's not worth upgrading for a german Floyd for $170+ dollars.
The guitar is top notch and is really a bargain at $700. It plays like the 80's Ibanez Desert Yellow JEMS I played years ago.
