Sounds like you've been round the racecourse a few times!! I too did a course in sound production (at RMIT) but it became pretty apparent that it was who you knew not what you knew, so jobs would go to those who had connections. I got into horticulture after that (slightly different direction hey).

The melb. crew.
Crusty [Neil] is good at Amps and guitars and a very british sense of humor.
Will is about the next oldest and very experienced, musically.
Petrov Mizinski [Harry] is one of the younger gen. along with Ashurbanipal. They get along well probably because of their ages and music tastes.
I haven't met the other young guy [ James rock?].
Then there's peter Crossley. I've only met him once at the Aims show but seems like a great guy. He makes great guitars.

I also trained as a sound engineer back in 82/83 which I used to also make some demos [ The my Space link on my posts.] Did some sound mixing for a head banger band [ Black Jack ] in the mid 80's, and for a Punk/head Banger band calle B.H.K. in the late 90's.

I inherited some money in the early 200's so I went and got a few things. An Epi Les Paul, A steinberger bass [ Carbon Fibre Headless neck- full body ]An SD quad box [ which led me here ], some computer recording stuff , a Midi keyboard ]and sundry bits and pieces. I already own a Korg Poly six from the 80's. I play keyboards as well, though I'm badly out of practice.

Lots of people I grew up with and knocked with in the ealy 70's achieved various levels of succes, the most notable being the guys in Men At Work. I grew up with the drummer. knew all but the bass player for ten years or more before men. Dave Briggs [ Little River Band ] grew up with him and jammed lots. People that were in Sports. Jeff burston [ Joe camaleri ] The guys in Captain Matchbox and so on. I knew the biz very well in the late 70's to the 80's . Knew lots of managers and promotors. etc. Actors, Sound people. It was my life back then.

Started playing in my teens in the sixties. School boy bands and things into my early 20's.
Had a couple of different guitars. Ended up getting Merv Cargill to throw some bits together. Used that guitar for the next thirty something years, with a pickup upgrade in the early 80's.
I decided not to follow the; Get into a band- get a following -get a contract- sell records routine and went for a solo recording artist thing. All went fine untill the early 80's when I got kicked of the rails by a "Police Turd Act " [ Long story ] I sort of floundered around the scene till the late 80's and then faded away. Turned to electronics and the computers. Computers got me back to recording which got me back to playing my guitar, which I hadn't done much of through the nineties.

Well you seem to have embraced this place since you got here. I've noticed you're around a lot. It's a great place for all the stuff on Pups Guitars and Amps.
You seem to have a certain amount of expertise yourself. Can I ask what your background in the guitars and things is?
