It's finally finished! I need to order better strap buttons because I didn't like the length/width of the screws (the body is chambered).
Anyhow, here it is. Even my GF said it was pretty and she has no interest in guitars haha.

This probably the nicest build I've put together. Warmth makes some good stuff. I'm getting solid resonance from the headstock to the bottom end of the guitar.

Beautiful hybrid JM. It really looks like a fun one to pick up.

Things have slowed down a bit and with the long weekend I decided to put a little more work into the Telecaster. After much contemplation I'm finishing the body in Nitrocellulose Butterscotch Blonde.

damn, nicely done! Doesn't really look like it's on your workbench anymore though eh?
What's the skull made of? I dig it, it reminds me of the Mexican Day of The Dead Art I love.

Well looking back i beleve you are referring to that crappy first skull i carved and it was from a scrap bit of mahogany . Looking at it now i think its embarrassingly bad haha

I have refined my skills since then, pine

Does building from a kit count? I'm new, so I need to figure out the rules

Just got this Reid and Son kit from eBay for $51, after shipping and exchange to Cdn, it cost me $91 CAD to my door.
Still deciding what pickups to put in (see my thread in Pickups...(Newbie)-Confused-by-an-abundance-of-options-advice-please

Also, not really a build, but I'm doing some custom paint on a Dean Dave Mustaine signature V, and a BC Rich Virgin. Someone please let me know if its appropriate to post pics of just custom paint in this thread.

Nothing wrong with doing a kit. I did one for a old friend of mine and its a fantastic guitar.

I'm actually doing a bass kit, and need some advice on drilling the holes for the bridge.

How do yall suggest I precide?

I'm guessing I take a measuring device and measure out the scale length from the nut (with the Neck on of course) and use that as a rough place to put the center of the adjustments of the bridge.

                            Thoughts?

The kit is GFS P-Bass (paulownia body and maple neck) that will be a solid black or grayburst color body, Tru oil or poly neck finish, poly body finish, all stock components except a black or black tortoise shell pickguard.

This link might help, just enter your scale length and # of frets and instrument type

Distance indicated is from the fingerboard face of the nut, to center of rear-most row of mounting screws.
