Re: My wife gives me grief about buying tubes ...
I was just reading on a luthier's forum that a guy's wife turned to him at a club and said "I won't bother you anymore more about buying guitars (he had 15). Nancy told me her husband (in the band) has 49 trumpets!".aka Chris Pile, formerly of Six String Fever

I've got 60 guitars...but 49 trumpets is just...INSANITY! WTF!
BillWhen you've had budget guitars for a number of years, you may find that your old instrument is holding you back. A quality guitar can inspire you to write great songs, improve your understanding of the Gdim chord while in the Lydian Mode, cure the heartbreak of cystic acne--and help you find true love in the process.

Once when I was on a pretty run of purchases, the wife exasperated "another one, how much was that?"
I asked her if she could tell the difference between a $25 guitar and a $25,000 guitar. She paused, said "good point" and walked away.

There is a website that will, for a fee, duplicate a receipt to reflect any purchase price that you want it to. $5K Les Paul? No problem, change it to $350 and tell the wife it's a Chibson.
The only problem is that it's my wife who told me about it ...

Nice tubes.....I love NOS stuff. I have 5-6 great NOS 12AX7's and my latest purchase was a set of Siemens EL34's from KCA NOS Tubes. Unfortunately they are too hot for my DSL 40c and they won't bias up. I'm not spending any $$ modding this amp. I may sell them or just wait till I get a better amp.

FIFYI am so close to retirement that I could play in a band full time. All I have to do is figure out what to use instead of money, improve my playing, learn some songs, and find some other musicians more talented than me who will do exactly as they're told. .

On the planet where I come from 49 trumpets is considered a waste of brass. They're not even suitable for reloading.I am so close to retirement that I could play in a band full time.
