    Re: Jazz Standards

Even though I’m not a big fan of jazz, I do love the way the melodies intertwine with the chords.

      Re: Jazz Standards

Figured I would post this. I seem to be making progress and got thru this 5 minute take without screwing up too badly. I'm also happy with my recording setup and tone now. The pickup is a (A5) 59 with A2 spacers.

One of my favorite jazz players, he is blazing here, but that band is swingin':

Guitar, digital hammond, left hand bass, ez drummer. You can only hear the bass well on good speax or headphones.

                  Re: Jazz Standards

I think one thing that puts people off to jazz is the snooty elitism in some circles, people like Wynton Marsalis and Stanley Crouch and any number of snobby academics haven't exactly helped any.

                    Re: Jazz Standards

Cool. I have a bunch of Jazz Fake books for piano and guitar, I wish I spent more time Jazzin it up.

I do a lot of non standard and weird things on the guitar and if someone asks me what is it that I was doing -I always say "jazz man" ....

Sort of a 30 something year old running joke for me.

Such a respectable musical form, not just anybody can do it.

                          OR CAN THEY?.
