  • JB Modification - Need some help

    Hi all,

Without changing Fillisters / Hexes, do you think it would be a quick fix to tighten up the lows of a JB on a baritone by simply nipping the ends of the pole pieces that stick out of the bottom?

It appears the length is long enough that the mag field is going back a bit, leaving enough room to snip & possibly tighen it up?

Would it effect the output differential from string to string if I only nip the bottom 2?

    Thank you,

Shortening the length tends to increase the field over the poles and increase the mids/treble.

If you want a tighter response, the hex poles are the way to go.

Are you in the U.S.? If so, I can sell you a set of black hex poles that are just slightly shorter than the stock fillisters and will drop right in for just a few bucks. That's your best bet.

Cutting the ends off will help. Changing to short hex screws will help even more.
