1. A stock JCM 800 is not a very aggressive amp by todays standards, nor were they ever really meant to be ultra high gain. Where they excel is in dynamics and headroom. But without a "kick in the nuts" they´re actually pretty tame.

2. No, such a pedal does not exist AFAIK, or I´d be using it instead of my head and 4x12 for quieter settings

Exactly. Thats the mistake i made when buying my 2203, when I got it home, I was initially disappointed at the amount of gain and agression to it, until I learned where its strengths lie, and how to get the best from it with pedals. Now I couldnt be happier.

I'm assuming the tone you are after is that of a pushed or "kicked in the nuts" JCM800. In which case, I can highly reccomend that plexitone, or the EHX Metal muff. Its got good EQ, and some nice Marshall-esque hair on it. Of course, I only have experience with using these pedals through a JCM 800 circuit, so its going to sound more like a JCM 800 than it would through something else.

They go off ebay for $109 shipped. I got one used yesterday for $77 + shipping. I think there is another one on there right now.

Sorry, don't understand. If you are talking about the sound clip, it was the crunch box through a Fender Deluxe Reverb Reissue.
