That's because "Punk" is not a style of music, it's a ethic. It can be applied over and over in many different forms.

I've always felt it was an attitude, but your description works too.

Rock and Roll is in it 6th decade and has progressed and regressed several times to the point of everything old is new again and unfortunately it isn't top dog anymore. Vocal pop is the big thing now...American Idol etc.

I feel like horn players must have felt in the 1950's when Jazz and Big Band took a backseat to R&R.

There is good music just harder to find.

I've never seen a band locally that is even in the ballpark of any thing I listen to. I'm always out in the "scene" places looking for bands too, but it's either pre-recorded junk with just a bass player and a singer or country. Oh and frank zappa wanna' bes.

Of course there are people who held onto their ideals, but in general, the Babyboomer "hippies" became the money grubbing corporate whores they professed to be against.

Well I consider indianapolis the local scene since this can't quality for a town since it's basically built around a wal-mart and a few car lots.

Granted I did see one hell of a good rockabilly band today and got to mess around with someone's 1951 tele.
