Well, I like the sound of Keith Omnipotence Messier better.

I've been married before. The woman I married had a son from a previous relationship. That guy flew the coop, so she and I raised her son -- who, for all intents and purposes, was my son as well -- from the time he was nine months old. He called me "Dad," and he was in every way (except genetically) my son.

She and I married, and we had another son together. When the oldest was eight and the youngest three, we separated and eventually divorced, for reasons I'll explain if you want to know.

After much heartache and scraping at rock-bottom, I fell in requited love with a woman who had suffered a very similar breakup. She had a son from her prior marriage as well. We were friends for almost three years before we started dating each other, and about a year after that, we got married. Three weeks and two days ago, we had a baby daughter.

            Life astounds me.
Great story. You still in contact with the 8 year old boy? And if you feel comfortable you can explain it but I surely don't expect that. And don't call me Shirley. And who's the jerk that stole my line from me earlier!?

Gordon's not that bad. Did kids make fun of it or something with "there goes the fisherman" or some garbage like that.

I assumed that thing I see in their yard is a rabbit hutch (I've only seen the back), but I suppose it could house a wombat....

Nah, it's a movie. I was watching it when I asked. If it's on, it's worth laughing at, but I wouldn't go out of my way for it. There is a running thing with Matthew McConaughey getting attacked by silly animals.

Next question: Hoodies.... zip up, or pull-over?

I just saw that eight-year-old boy this morning. He's now thirteen years old. I was in the process of adopting him when we separated, so she terminated that process, and I have no legal rights to him as a son. Five months after the separation, she decided it would be best for him not to see or speak with me again. To this day, I still have no explanation why she did that. Maybe one of the two guys she slept with prior to our separation could tell you, but I sure can't.

She's remarried now, and most of this stuff is behind all of us. I see my (ex-?)son on occasion, but we don't get to hang out as a family at all. I expect that to change, as they are planning on moving to my town next summer. I love and miss that kid so much it makes me cry, and I know he loves and misses me as well. Deep down, I believe that relationship will rebuild.

Yeah, I guess it's not. It just doesn't seem to suit me. Kids never made fun of my middle name -- my last name was plenty fodder for that -- but I never dug it just the same. Now, it doesn't bother me much. Perhaps that's a sign that I'm growing up.

Pullover hoodies get my hair all static-y. I prefer the zip-up variety. I'm assuming, based on your avatar, that you and I are on odds regarding that issue.

Well I hope so. That's a really sad story and you better believe the kid misses you.

When he's an adult I'm sure he'll come looking for you as the father figure. I hope he does at least, then you'll have what, 4 or 5 kids?

And Messier's an awesome name! Not quite up to 'Lundeen' snuff, but awesome nonetheless. You've got Mark Messier, if nothing else.

                    Thankfully I've got Mats Sundin.

I actually dig both. If it's not too cold, I like a regular pullover, but I like the zip-up variety if it's insulated. I never gave it much thought, but probably because the regular ones don't really get too hot, but an insulated one can.

Yeah, I have faith that he and I will be in each other's lives again. Those years together were too precious and made too much of a positive impression on both of us.

When that happens, I'll have one biological son, one biological daughter, one stepson, and one quasi-step-and-almost-adoptive-son.

Either way, it's a sensitive question that requires careful consideration.

My main hoodie is a zip-up, and I love it. Soft, comfy, and casual-sexy.
