I played 7-string for several years, actually. I was inspired by Dino Cazares (sp?) from Fear Factory and Stephen Carpenter of Deftones. Ultimately I decided that the extra-wide fretboards don't suite my hands and the ultra-low tunings don't really facilitate my melodic sensibility.

As for the "jump" ...that happens every once in a while. You have peaks and plateaus as a player, where for months you feel as though you're stuck in a rut and then one day a little door opens up - all of a sudden there are a whole bunch of new things available to you.. I am always striving for those moments.

      Good questions, Bill.

I'll be 46 years old... the year will be 2027... unless I've somehow made my fortune by playing obscure sped-up stoner metal and can take it easy, I'll probably just be working my ass off for some software development company well into my 60's because my retirement will be stolen by the government and greedy executives who see me as a "resource" instead of a "person."

Actually, I could see myself with a nice shop somewhere building and selling guitars or amps - I think I would really enjoy that.

A single-channel 50 watt master volume half stack, cable, and guitar with a humbucker in the bridge.

        Great read sofar!

When did you realized that you're "ripe" on guitar playing?I mean ,a feeling that makes the guitar a part of you ,or life ,and harmony between you and your instrument is present ,as your control over it!

              Strangest occurrence at a show?

For the purposes of your band, is it pronounced bell-grade or bay-oh-grahd?

I can only quote this story from another thread.. This is the weirdest thing in recent memory...

When our singer wussed out and quit the band, we did a whole Halloween set as The Misfits and had 15 different "guest" Danzigs in a giant dogpile punching and kicking each other for the microphone for the entire 35-minute set (which was about 50 songs). I was the least-imposing Doyle anyone has ever seen, but I sold it that night. When the pile of drunken Danzigs on the stage started to crowd me, I stabbed them ruthlessly with my Edwards V headstock.

'Round these parts we say "Bell-grade," but I'd be totally into doing a T-shirt design that spelled it "Београд."

My Dad, who taught me to think before I act, how to be responsible, and how to do what is right even when it's hard.

My mom, who taught me that it's OK (good, even) to be myself.

John Wayne, who taught me the way of American stoicism at an early age.

Weird Al, who taught me the way of inanity at an early age.

Bob Dylan, who lived that life and wrote about it so that I wouldn't have to.

This is the standard "screw, marry, kill" question. For this question, please select which one you would screw, which one you'd marry, and which one you'd kill:

                      Osama Bin Laden
                      Rainmaker's avatar

You're easily one of the best writers on this forum -- I'm talking words, not musical notes, though you may be one of the best with regard to that as well.

When did you find you had a gift for putting words together? What are the greatest accolades you've received with regard to your writing? I know you do technical writing, but do you ever do any creative writing as a hobby?

                          Marry Osama, because he's loaded.

Thank you, Keith. Your praise embarrasses me.

The highest accolade I ever received for my writing, outside of school grades, was probably the response I got on Ubersite for the first two parts of my unfinished three-part horror pulp series, titled So You Want To Be an Ice Cream Man. Maybe one day I'll write part 3.

Now that I've got you all buttered up, what did you think of the Pats and Sox games yesterday?

I'm pretty indifferent about MLB, but I thought Belichick and the Pats displayed a commendable amount of restraint and good sportsmanship in their defeat over the Skins. Nothing says "class" like using your starters to convert on 4th downs with a 45-point lead in the fourth quarter.
