  • Phosphor bronze nut

Just made this for a client.

    Just showing off really...

That lovely warm coppery colour is the real deal; no lighting effects or photoshop.

Have you experimented with different nut materials? I have seen one manufacturer making tele saddles from brass, titanium, and stainless steel.

I've made stainless steel nuts for Strats and Teles and they sound amazing. I've not experimented with titanium yet. It's expensive, difficult to get hold of and tonally is in the same category as aluminium because of its very light weight.

To be honest though there isn't much difference between metals in terms of their tone, but Stainless steel doesn't tarnish and bronze does so only slowly and rather prettily, unlike brass which goes green.

If I ever get filthy rich, I'm going to get someone to make me a statue of the doryphoros made out of bronze. I don't know anything about guitar making, but that nut is really nice looking.
