  • recording direct from amp?

i found out that there is a line out from my amp, so i was thinking i could get an adapter(1/4 to 1/8) and record direct into my computer.

if i were to do this, how would it sound? how loud would it be? where wo7ld i plug it into? the mic jack?

    thanks

Whatevr you do dont plug the line out into the speaker out on your soundcard, that caused the untimely death of my audigy soundcard

My Engls amp out is quite reasonable.

I did this with amp connected direct to the Line-in of the sound card:

I tried recording direct from my Warp 7 into my 4 track - waaaaaay too tinny, distortion was fizzy and unpleasant, sounded like a bunch of hornets fighting in a coke can.

I'm going to buy a mic and mic the amp up instead.

You can go direct all you want. I used to do it with my AVT50. It sounded good at the time, but my JCM sounds 100 times better, even direct. The AVT gets fizzy and pretty dark sounding direct.
