  • A good solid state 15-30 watt amp?

can anybody recommend a good solid state amp(15-30 watt)
that has an excellent clean channel and that also takes well to pedals?
all i need is a good clean.. i'll use my distortion pedals for everything else.

    thanks

Roland Cube 30. The clean channel is for all practical purposes a JC120. Not exactly, but an awesome clean platform for pedals. If that doesn't suite you, there is also the Fender Twin Model.

Plus an acoustic sim, some dirt models, a few modulation effects plus some delay/reverb and a bunch of out options...

Roland Cube 30 or Tech 21 30-watter. Tech is my personal fave.

I've heard good things about the valvetronix. I had a Vox Tonelab SE that I really liked, but I guess those aren't strictly solid state.

The Vox Valvetronix AD15 is the first to come to mind. I've owned one and it was a great little grab and go amp. While not SS, the Fender Super Champ XD is also one to look closely at.

That's the only reason I excluded those. also a good call.

              Tech 21 - nice suggestion.

Vox AD15VT or Roland Cube 30 for modelling.
if you want a solid state amp with a tube amp like response, try the Tech 21 Trademark 30 or better, a Vox Pathfinder 15R.

+1 on the Vox VTs. I have a VT50 and I love it more than affordable tube combos just because it is so versatile. The clean models are all really amazing. The high gain amps could be better, but they are definitely, definitely usable. I've played the VT15 too and its really just as good just smaller.

Latest Line 6 Spider IV is great. The III was garbage, but the new one has much updated modeling technology and no longer sounds crap.

I have a Line 6 Spider II. It has good power, for the bedroom to a small club. the clean is very nice and has soom good distortion. and it is reasonably priced too.

I have not tried the spider 4 but they just keep adding stuff to it. It also has 4 presets too.

Makes me think a Peavey is the best choice. Its what I used for years with multiFX etc.
Plus a 30w 1x10 is loud enough to be heard, and can be had used for under $100

VT15 is loud enough for a practice amp. It takes to pedals but you won't need them.
