Check the other thread. If it's a joke then Frank Falbo is in on it.

You really have to question the logic of marketing such a set in this economy? To me it seems elitist and completely disconnected from the economic reality that SD's consumers face. Oh well I'm sure the Japanese collectors that buy classic strats for $30,000 will appreciate them.

its like making a solid gold toilet . IMHO not needed but hell if I had the cash to burn why not?

If SD are investing development time into $1200 pick ups then they must have some kind of improvment but I think we all agree it just cant be 10x or more the value worth of current pick ups .its not possible . what can it possibly be. Brighter ? thicker ? toneier ? maybe, but do we need or even want these improvements ? Can see my bass players face now. " hey dude. Just got some new Pu's and my sound is going to be 10 times thicker now so I dont really need you anymore "

If I sell a million $ worth of albums tomorrow yeah I'll buy a $10 000 les paul or PRS macarty and why not chuck $1200 Pu's in to it . but thats their market
            stuff
            and
            more stuff

I'd still sound like crap with $1,200 pickups, but I'm not their target market.

                  I wouldn't worry about it.

Most people who can and are willing to afford $1200 pickups will have to do too much daytime job to actually learn to play well
