Well it's obvious that he doesn't have the knowledge, but the soldering skills can easily be learned.
He doesn't have the tools, but basic soldering tools can be purchased for as little as $30...about half what it would cost to hire a tech to do it.
He doesn't have the time?!! This one really gets me. To do it yourself takes less that 30 minutes. To take your guitar to a tech, wait for him to do the work, then pick it up could take a week.
Picture eggs frying in a pan..."here's your brain on drugs" (or "electrified" to the point of no hope of repair).
