I have a TC 2240 Parametric EQ rack which has both high impedance line level XLR Input jacks, an Ultra high impedance instrument level 1/4 input jack (like on an amp), and both 1/4 and XLR low impedance jacks. I have so far connected it after my mesa boogie preamp via its High impedance 1 MOhm 1/4 jack inputs, and then out from the low impedance 1/4 outputs. This does not have much headroom due to the input sensitivity and so I was wondering if I could use a 1/4 to XLR lead to hook it up to the line level XLR input sockets.
My question is, could I use the XLR (pin 3 removed/shorted to pin 1) line level Input, and then continue to use the regular mono 1/4" output?? I wish to go from my preamp output into the XLR input on the 2240, then out of the 1/4 unbalanced output into my power amp... Or Must I use both XLR inputs and outputs together?? Or do I have to use the XLR input in conjunction with the XLR output ??
