    Agreed, a neat trick and looks very clean. Do you have to have a deeper rout for this method?

      No not at all. The plate takes up little room so i cant imagine it would be an issue on any existing rout.

          Thanks.i think its a great mod.

          I just ordered some 304 stainless steel flat bar, I plan to make it into a zero fret

                  Oh heck ya! Great idea Raphael! I hadn't thought of grinding/filing the threads away at the head of the screw. That's thinking out side the box. You could do the same thing and use threaded inserts in the body as well.

                      I wasn't going to bother recessing the control cavity plate.i find it really hard making a template that matches the cover.

                      Maple cover, Its a good fit but not perfect. I think i will invest i some cavity templates for the next one.
