That bass does look very cool. I'm embarrassed to post mine right after that one.

I wanted to get in on the relic craze now that it's over and considered lame. Just kidding. Actually, I've wanted to do a relic style guitar for a while, and I just like finding the pieces and putting them together. So I bought a candy apple red Fender Road Worn Player body, and a maple Road Worn Neck off of eBay and the project has begun.

I bought the body bare and bought the hardware separately. Everything was new looking so I tried aging some stuff. I used printed circuit board etching fluid. Here is how the neck plate came out: . It's hard to see in a cell phone picture, but some of the shine is off the chrome, and some pitting has started. I like they way it came out. Now I'm at a stand still. I ran out of money. I'm two pay checks away from a loaded D. Allen pick guard wired Eric Johnson/Jimmie Vaughan style, loaded with his Flat50's pickups on to a 1 ply parchment guard. Should be cool when it's all done.

My current project is converting my fallout shelter (for real) into the band/work space. Old nasty carpet and a wood stove to remove, new paint and wiring to do.

All guitar projects are on hold till I get that done.

Got this drawn up yesterday. Solid slab of rose alder with the edges jointed nicely on my new jointer,

                    It's not a bass ,it's an 8 string fanned fret guitar ,25.5" - 27",

Gotcha. That neck is so massive I figured bass all the way. You did an amazing job on the woodwork. I wish I had your skills.

Working on this for a mate ,he doesn't like the thickness of his Jackson COW 7 string plus he wants a different headstock and plain maple board .It's African Mahogany with Maple stripes ,It's in the clamps overnight while the epoxy sets ,I love these Gotoh truss rods

What truss rod do you use? I'm on the fence about the single action ones and the more elaborate dual action hot rod style ones...
There's nothing less metal than trying to act metal.
