I would go with Precision Guitar Kits, then.

      Re: S KITS?

Just out of curiosity, has anyone tried anything like this...

      http://www.micromark.com/AGE-IT-EASY...L-OZ,7567.html

I'm not wanting to do this on this kit when I get it, thought I might get one of those CHEAP kits and see what it would do. Just wondered if anyone had used anything like this, and what the outcome was?

        have you looked at Carvin
        they have kits also

their necks have tusq nuts and an option for Satinless steel frets

if you take a torch to the body before finishing
it brings the grain out like the picture

I have looked, and Carvin may be dear ol' dads first DIY..lol. I have seen a couple vids on UTube about the torch method. How hard is it to do?

It´s easy, I finished one Pinecaster that way. Just torch the body to your own taste, less or more to your own liking. Then just sanding.

Here´s the one I did back in the summer.

Poly is easy to get off. Just torch it.

Jermo, I have to admit that I didn´t use a real torch. I had... ahem... piece of paper wrapped into a metal stick, I lit it and then sprayed some deodorant to the fire (makes a nice "torch"). I can tell you, not the wisest and certainly not the safest way to do but it worked under the circumstances. Wouldn´t recommend it to anyone, thinking about it later I should have done it other way.

That´s one damn good looking piece of pine, phred.
